T-Wolves hire Tomjanovich as consultant
The Minnesota Timberwolves have hired legendary coach Rudy Tomjanovich as a player personnel consultant, the team announced Sunday.
Tomjanovich, 72, is part of the Class of 2020 inductees for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He'll be tasked with assisting the Timberwolves' front office by providing his perspective on the draft, free agency, and trades.
After being selected to five All-Star Games during his 11-year playing career with the Houston Rockets, Tomjanovich won back-to-back championships as Houston's head coach in 1994 and 1995. He also led Team USA to a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Tomjanovich retired with a career NBA coaching record of 527-416.
The Timberwolves also brought on Joseph Blair as an assistant coach and hired Aaron Blackshear as director of analytics Sunday, among other additions.
