The Minnesota Timberwolves and general manager Scott Layden have parted ways, sources told The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski.

Layden had remained with the organization after effectively being replaced with the hiring of president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas in 2019.

The executive joined the team in 2016 alongside former president and head coach Tom Thibodeau. Layden previously served as New York Knicks general manager from 1999-2003.

Layden was instrumental in the Wolves' selection of Anthony Edwards at No. 1 in last month's draft, according to Krawczynski.
