Report: Kings' Jeffries to miss time with Grade 3 ankle sprain
Sacramento Kings forward DaQuan Jeffries will miss an extended period of time after suffering a Grade 3 left ankle sprain, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
Jeffries was set to fill a significant role in the Kings' backcourt rotation this season. The 23-year-old played 12 minutes in Sacramento's first preseason contest against the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 11 but hadn't appeared in a game since he injured his back.
The undrafted guard apparently injured his ankle during 3-on-3 drills at Tuesday's practice while working his way back to full health, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's James Ham.
Jeffries averaged 3.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game last campaign. His absence should allow even more minutes in the rotation for rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton.
