Celtics potentially facing significant absences Friday vs. Wizards

The Boston Celtics released their preliminary injury report ahead of Friday's game against the Washington Wizards, and it appears that an already banged-up roster could soon become even thinner.

Big men Tristan Thompson, Grant Williams, and Robert Williams, and guard Carsen Edwards are listed as questionable due to "health and safety protocols." That designation has frequently been assigned to players facing contact tracing due to possible COVID-19 exposure.

Guard Jeff Teague is listed as questionable due to his left ankle sprain. The former All-Star point guard has missed the Celtics' past two games.

Finally, guards Kemba Walker and Romeo Langford remain out due to previous injuries.

If all seven are unavailable, the Celtics would only have 10 players for their game against Washington - eight main roster players and two-way players Tremont Waters and Tacko Fall. NBA teams require at least eight players in uniform to proceed with a game.
