Draymond on postgame scuffle: 'Ain't nobody scared of no damn Rodney McGruder'
Warning: Story contains coarse language
Tensions boiled over following the Golden State Warriors' 118-91 blowout win over the Detroit Pistons, with reserve guard Rodney McGruder walking toward the Warriors bench to confront Juan Toscano-Anderson as both teams were leaving the floor.
Draymond Green wasn't a fan of McGruder's antics and let him hear about it during his postgame media availability.
"I was in the locker room, but apparently he was taking up for Wayne Ellington. When the fuck did Rodney McGruder become the tough guy of the team?" the Warriors forward said.
"There's too many tough guys in the league these days for me. But I know ain't nobody scared of no damn Rodney McGruder. Like, are you fucking kidding me? It's crazy. Insane."
McGruder's frustrations apparently stemmed from a verbal exchange Toscano-Anderson had with Ellington during the first half, according to Green.
Injured Warriors star Klay Thompson, who was starring as a guest broadcaster on NBC Sports Bay Area, provided a different explanation for McGruder's behavior as the incident unfolded.
"This dude might be out of the league soon, he's probably mad about that, who knows," Thompson said. "He's over here trying to start something like he's a good player or something."
Golden State improved to 11-9 with the victory, while Detroit dropped its record to 5-15.
