Bulls' Hutchison out indefinitely for personal reasons
Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said Monday that small forward Chandler Hutchison will be out indefinitely for personal reasons, according to NBC Sports Chicago's Rob Schaefer.
"The conversations I have had with him have been absolutely terrific," the first-year Bulls coach said. "I give him a lot of credit. He's handled himself like a complete pro.
"But right now there's some things he needs to focus on personally and that's where his attention is at."
Hutchison's playing time has plummeted from 18.8 minutes per game in 2019-20 to 9.1 across seven appearances this season. The 24-year-old is averaging a career-low 1.9 points and two rebounds per game and shooting 27.8% from the floor.
His availability was impacted early in the season due to a positive COVID-19 test. Since Dec. 29, Hutchison has played just under 12 minutes total across three appearances, losing rotation minutes to rookie Patrick Williams and veterans Otto Porter Jr. and Denzel Valentine.
The Bulls drafted Hutchison out of Boise State with the No. 22 pick in 2018.
