Davis: 'Very humbling' to see rookie card sell for over $1M
The booming trading card market has seen several NBA players' cards selling for over $1 million lately, including those featuring Anthony Davis.
The Los Angeles Lakers big man told Brooke DiPalma of Yahoo Finance he was humbled to see his rookie card top the $1-million mark at auction in February and floated the idea of getting involved in the card industry himself.
"I might have to get into that space ... it's very humbling," Davis said. "I mean, it's a great honor to have one of my cards sell for that much."
Davis believes the high price is a testament to "all the hard work and dedication to my craft that I've put into."
The 2012-13 National Treasures signed card sold for $1.045 million through Goldin Auctions, setting a record for the highest price ever paid for a Davis card. Goldin also auctioned off a 2012 Panini Prizm Gold Davis rookie card on Sunday for $185,000 - a record for that particular card.
