Report: Raptors trading Matt Thomas to Jazz for future 2nd-round pick
The Toronto Raptors are trading guard Matt Thomas to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a future second-round pick, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Utah is sending the Golden State Warriors' 2021 second-rounder to Toronto as part of the deal, a source told The Athletic's Blake Murphy.
Thomas provides the Jazz with another strong 3-point shooting option. The 26-year-old marksman is a 45.7% shooter from long range in 67 career NBA games.
Meanwhile, dealing Thomas creates an open roster spot for the Raptors to make a potential Kyle Lowry trade work. Toronto is actively engaged in trade talks with the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers surrounding Lowry, Stadium's Shams Charania reports.
Thomas will become a restricted free agent during the 2022 offseason. After earning $1.5 million this season, his contract is non-guaranteed for the 2021-22 campaign.
