VanVleet cleared to return, serves 1-game suspension vs. Spurs
Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet served his one-game suspension during Wednesday's win over the San Antonio Spurs, indicating he has been cleared to return after missing the past six games with a strained left hip flexor, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg.
Asked if VanVleet will be available for Friday's game against the Orlando Magic, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse said he "would assume so."
It was a stark change of tone from Nurse. He said Tuesday he had no idea when VanVleet or rookie guard Jalen Harris would return to Toronto's lineup, according to Sportsnet's Steven Loung.
VanVleet received a one-game ban for leaving the Raptors' bench during his team's on-court altercation with the Los Angeles Lakers on April 4; he was already out due to injury at that point.
VanVleet, 27, has scored a career-high 19.8 points per game to go along with 6.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.7 steals across 44 appearances this season.
