Paul Pierce's time as an ESPN analyst came to an end Monday after the sporting news company parted ways with the 43-year-old, sources told Front Office Sports' Michael McCarthy.
Pierce released a video shortly after the news broke and promised "big things" to come.
The split comes after the former Boston Celtics franchise star and likely 2021 Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame inductee posted a live video Friday of himself with apparent exotic dancers.
ESPN declined to comment on its decision to move on from Pierce, according to McCarthy.
Drafted with the 10th pick out of Kansas in 1998, Pierce played 15 seasons for the Celtics, earning 10 All-Star nods and winning an NBA title with the franchise in 2008. He also played for the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers.
Since retiring as a player in 2017, Pierce frequently contributed analysis to two of ESPN's flagship basketball shows, "NBA Countdown" and "The Jump."
