Report: Schroder rejected Lakers' offers worth around $80M
Dennis Schroder has rejected contract offers in the range of $80 million over four years from the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein.
Schroder is reportedly looking for greater compensation in free agency. As a result, Los Angeles made Schroder available at last week's trade deadline, Stein adds.
Since Feb. 16, Schroder has been eligible to sign an extension for as much as $83 million over four years, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski noted in December. However, the Lakers can go over the salary cap during the 2021 offseason to re-sign the German point guard as they possess his Bird rights.
Schroder has averaged 15.4 points, 4.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in just under 32 minutes per game through 43 appearances with L.A.
However, with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis injured over the past five games, the 27-year-old has upped his production to 19.6 points, 6.8 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.2 steals while guiding the Lakers to a 2-3 record.
