NBA Tuesday player props: Time to fade Trae Young
We were a lone Bryn Forbes 3-pointer away from sweeping Monday's player prop card, but we'll settle for a 3-1 night.
With two more games on the board Tuesday, here's what we're rolling with.
Trae Young under 37.5 points + assists
You cannot stop Young; you can only hope to contain him, and the 76ers showed no desire to do that in Game 1.
The third-year guard went off for 35 points and 10 dimes Sunday, helping the Hawks take a 1-0 series lead on the road. He's been an impact player throughout the entire postseason, but is it time to start selling high?
After averaging 25.3 points, 9.4 assists, and 17.7 field goals per game during the regular season, Young's up to 30.2, 9.8, and 22.3, respectively. He also attempted 36 triples across his last three outings after totaling 39 combined over the previous seven.
Despite the hot stretch, Young's still been held under 37.5 points and assists in a pair of postseason tilts. I'm taking the under tonight on what's most likely the highest total we see on a Young points plus assist prop from here on out.
Kawhi Leonard under 1.5 made threes
Big plus-money play here on Leonard's 3-point total. The Clippers star was held without multiple triples in two of his final three first-round contests and is just 5-of-23 (21.7%) from beyond the arc in his last four dates with the Jazz.
Utah allowed just 2.1 made threes to small forwards and 10.8 per game during the regular season, both tops in basketball.
Danny Green under 2.5 made threes
Green put up a dud in Game 1, collecting just four points on 2-of-7 shooting from the floor, including 0-of-4 from deep. The veteran sharpshooter poured in double figures and connected on three or more triples in three of his five first-round games against the Wizards, but the Hawks are a different animal defensively.
Atlanta finished No. 2 in the NBA in both points per game (19.5) and overall shooting percentage (43.2%) allowed to small forwards. Green, who has seen the Hawks four times this season, is a woeful 2-of-19 combined from the perimeter over that stretch.
