With the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors selected G League Ignite forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Kuminga shined as a two-way force with the G League Ignite, averaging 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, one steal, and 0.8 blocks across 13 appearances.
He struggled to score efficiently with a 38.7% field-goal percentage and a below-average 24.6% mark on five 3-pointers per game, but he showcased an ability to finish around the basket thanks to elite athleticism and explosiveness.
The dynamic forward's defensive skill set will be his calling card from Day 1 of his NBA career while the rest of his game catches up.

Strengths
- Athletic defender with an ability to guard 1 through 4 thanks to his strength, length, and foot speed.
- Utilizes athleticism to rebound effectively and protect the rim.
- Makes up for a below-average jumper by relentlessly attacking on drives. Also showcases potential as an off-ball cutter.
- Can finish around the basket with either hand.
- Flashes playmaking potential, especially in transition.
- Has a modern NBA build for a wing with impressive length.
Weaknesses
- Needs to develop a more consistent jump shot.
- Struggles at times to create his own offense, though that part of his game, along with his jumper, should develop under the tutelage of NBA coaches.
- Needs to improve his ball-handling abilities and decision-making.
- While a gifted defender, he doesn't always bring consistent effort.
