Bulls select Ayo Dosunmu with No. 38 pick
With the No. 38 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls selected star Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu.
A consensus first-team All-American, Dosunmu was one of the best players in college basketball last season. The Fighting Illini scorer was a finalist for both the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy in 2021 following a sensational junior year. He led Illinois with 20.1 points per game and contributed averages of 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.1 steals while also shooting 39% from distance, helping the school capture the Big Ten Tournament title as the competition's Most Outstanding Player.
Dosunmu projects to be a crafty ball-handler and versatile scorer who can occupy both backcourt roles in the league. However, he may need improvements in both traits to have long-term NBA success.
