The Philadelphia 76ers offered Ben Simmons to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for former first overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2020 second overall selection James Wiseman, and four first-rounders, including this year's No. 7 and No. 14 picks, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
Golden State swiftly rejected the proposal, per Pompey.
Simmons, 25, averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game during the 2020-21 regular season, earning his third straight All-Star selection and finishing second in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
However, Simmons' limitations - or perhaps his poor fit next to franchise center Joel Embiid - were put on full display come playoff time. His shooting woes were highlighted by his reluctance to even attempt a wide-open dunk late in the 76ers' season-ending second-round loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Additionally, Simmons finished the postseason 25-of-73 (34.2%) from the free-throw line, allowing opponents to deploy a "hack-a-Simmons" fouling strategy in an effort to dull the 76ers' offense.
