Love: Getting called out for making Olympic team was 'wrong in so many ways'

Kevin Love is speaking out after Team USA managing director Jerry Colangelo publically called his inclusion on the 2020 Olympic team "a mistake."

After being selected to the initial 12-man roster this summer, Love withdrew from the competition after two exhibition games due to a right calf injury. He scored one point across both contests.

"I didn't think Kevin Love was going to play," Colangelo told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "I wasn't even sure he had much left to play. He reached out to us and said he was in shape and said he felt he owed us."

Love responded to Colangelo's comments during a recent appearance on "The Shop: Uninterrupted."

"There was no need to do that," Love said. "(Colangelo was) protecting his legacy. He wanted something to point the finger at if they lost."

The American squad struggled in the two games Love suited up for, losing to Nigeria and Australia in Las Vegas. Despite the poor start, the Olympic team led by Kevin Durant and Jayson Tatum turned things around and came away with the gold medal at the Tokyo games.

Although Colangelo's comments were delivered in July, Love didn't hold back his emotions when the topic was brought up.

"It was just wrong in so many ways," added Love. "And for me, I'm sitting up here being the nice guy right now but honestly, fuck that. Fuck him."

The five-time All-Star has struggled to stay healthy for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of late, playing over 25 games just once in the last three seasons.
