The Atlanta Hawks waived center Jahlil Okafor, the team announced on Monday.
Okafor, 25, had been signed to a non-guaranteed $2.1-million contract for 2021-22. He totaled six points, four rebounds, and three assists in 28 preseason minutes with Atlanta.
Selected by the Philadelphia 76ers third overall in 2015, the one-time Duke standout has struggled to make his mark on the NBA.
Logging 27 appearances for the rebuilding Detroit Pistons last season, the 6-foot-10 traditional big man put up 5.4 points on 61.8% shooting with 2.4 rebounds in just under 13 minutes per game. He has shot 6-of-27 (22.2%) on threes for his career.
