Grizzlies' Brooks to have fractured hand re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks

Memphis Grizzlies wing Dillon Brooks will have his left hand fracture re-evaluated in two-to-three weeks, the team announced Tuesday.

Brooks initially suffered a hand injury during a summer workout. His latest recovery timeline was set "in the best interest of the long-term healing of the fracture," according to the Grizzlies.

The Canadian also didn't play during the preseason due to a sore thigh. Brooks is coming off a strong two-way season with Memphis in which he averaged a career-high 17.2 points and 1.2 steals across 67 starts. He increased his scoring to 25.8 points per game in five postseason contests.

With Brooks out of the lineup to start the regular season, De'Anthony Melton and Desmond Bane should get more consistent minutes.

Memphis qualified for the Western Conference play-in tournament with a 38-34 record last season and advanced to the first round of the playoffs against the Utah Jazz. The Grizzlies enter the new campaign with budding star duo Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. leading the charge.
