Report: Hornets offered Bridges a 4-year, $60M extension
The Charlotte Hornets offered Miles Bridges a four-year, $60-million rookie contract extension prior to the league's Oct. 18 deadline, NBA insider Marc Stein reports.
Bridges ultimately declined the Hornets' proposal and decided to bet on himself instead. The 23-year-old's decision is looking like a wise one considering how effective he's been through five appearances this season; Bridges is averaging a team-high 26.2 points, eight rebounds, and 1.8 steals while shooting 52.7% from the floor and 39.5% on 3-pointers in 35.2 minutes per game.
Bridges, who was named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 1, is set to become a restricted free agent this summer after he didn't reach an agreement with the Hornets. Charlotte can match any offers from other teams.
The Hornets enter Friday's game against the Miami Heat tied for the Eastern Conference's top record at 4-1.
