Cavaliers-Hawks postponed after 5 Cleveland players reportedly test positive

The NBA has postponed Sunday's game between the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers, the league announced.

Five Cavaliers players tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday to leave the team severely undermanned for the contest in Atlanta, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Center Jarrett Allen was reportedly among the players to test positive.

Cleveland later announced that Allen, Lamar Stevens, Dylan Windler, Denzel Valentine, and RJ Nembhard entered the league's health and safety protocols Sunday.

Cavaliers star rookie Evan Mobley and second-year forward Isaac Okoro entered the NBA's protocols earlier this week, while point guard Collin Sexton is out for the season with a torn meniscus.

The Hawks were also affected by COVID-19 on Sunday, with star guard Trae Young reportedly entering protocols. He wouldn't have played against Cleveland if the game had proceeded as scheduled.

The Cavaliers have won six straight and sit third in the Eastern Conference at 19-12 with the best average point differential (plus-5.9) in the conference. They've been one of the league's best teams in December, posting a 15.9 net rating - second only to the Memphis Grizzlies - in 10 games.
