Magic Johnson won't be tuning in to HBO's upcoming series about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers.

Johnson was asked by TMZ Sports if he's excited about the series, and he didn't have a lot to say.

"I'm not looking forward to it. I'm going to leave it at that," the Lakers legend said.

Premiering in March 2022, "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" chronicles the personal and professional lives of the "Showtime" Lakers. Johnson is portrayed in the series by Quincy Isaiah.

Johnson's former teammate Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spoke out against the HBO series as well earlier this month, telling Matthew Belloni of Puck that he would rather see the story told by those who lived through it. Abdul-Jabbar's longtime manager Deborah Morales also said she expects backlash from the NBA toward the series.

"Winning Time" is one of several Lakers projects set to be released in the near future. Johnson is working on his own "The Last Dance"-style documentary series about his life on and off the court, while Lakers controlling owner Jeanie Buss is making a workplace comedy about the organization's front office.
