Report: Gobert to miss Suns clash with mild calf strain
Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert will not play in Monday's game against the Phoenix Suns due to the calf strain he sustained during Sunday's loss to the Golden State Warriors, a source told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.
The strain is reportedly considered mild. Gobert isn't expected to miss a significant amount of time.
Gobert left the defeat to Golden State with two-and-a-half minutes remaining and was then seen stretching his left leg on the sidelines, according to Sarah Todd of Deseret News. The Jazz trailed 91-89 when their franchise big exited, ultimately falling 94-92 after Bojan Bogdanovic missed a potential game-winning three at the buzzer.
"I don't think it's ... anything bad," Gobert said postgame, courtesy of ABC4 News' Dana Greene. "I try to play through everything. I sprained my ankle against Houston, I tried to play through that, but I think it puts a little more pressure on the calf and on anything else. So just a minor injury. I think we're going to be cautious, obviously."
Utah is already without Donovan Mitchell, who remains in the concussion protocol.
