Report: Raptors likely to deal Dragic by trade deadline
After playing just five games with the franchise, the Toronto Raptors are "almost certain" to deal veteran guard Goran Dragic by the trade deadline, sources told The Toronto Star's Doug Smith.
According to Smith, the Raptors have "many different opportunities" to move on from Dragic, and the franchise has ramped up trade talks across the league as the Feb. 10 deadline looms closer.
The Raptors acquired Dragic as part of last offseason's sign-and-trade that sent franchise icon Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat.
The 35-year-old has been outspoken about not wanting to play for a young Toronto squad, telling Slovenian reporters in August that he had "higher ambitions." He then suited up for the team's first four regular-season games before stepping away for a personal matter. He hasn't seen any game action since Nov. 13.
Dragic is just two seasons removed from being a main cog in the Heat's run to the 2020 NBA Finals, where he averaged 19 points per game over 17 playoff appearances.
