Report: Jazz discussed trades for Pistons' Grant, Kings' Barnes
The Utah Jazz are looking to add a strong wing defender ahead of the NBA's Feb. 10 trade deadline and have discussed deals for Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant and Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes, reports The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor.
The Jazz currently start Royce O'Neale at power forward; the 28-year-old is an above-average defender but lacks offensive firepower. Acquiring Grant or Barnes would give Utah a significant upgrade at the 4.
Grant, 27, is averaging 20 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 25 appearances for Detroit this season. He recently missed 24 games with a thumb injury.
Barnes, 29, is posting 16.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 40.8% from distance. Grant and Barnes are both under contract through the 2022-23 campaign.
