Report: Lakers waiving Jordan, signing Augustin
The Los Angeles Lakers are waiving center DeAndre Jordan, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Los Angeles reportedly plans to sign free-agent guard DJ Augustin as a backup to Russell Westbrook. The Lakers will also reportedly add forward Wenyen Gabriel on a two-way contract.
Jordan played 32 games for Los Angeles this season, making 19 starts and averaging 4.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. He signed a minimum contract with the franchise in September after agreeing to a buyout with the Detroit Pistons.
The Philadelphia 76ers are determined to sign Jordan once he's cut, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Augustin registered 5.3 points, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 rebounds per game for the Houston Rockets through 34 contests this season before being waived earlier in February. His last appearance was a 14-minute stint against the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 28.
The Lakers will be the 11th NBA franchise of Augustin's 14-year career.
