Thunder's Dort undergoes season-ending shoulder surgery
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Lu Dort will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a labrum tear in his left shoulder, the team announced Tuesday, according to The Athletic's David Aldridge.
Veteran forward Mike Muscala will also be sidelined for the rest of the campaign following ankle surgery.
Guard Ty Jerome will miss eight weeks after a sports hernia procedure. The Thunder's final regular-season game is just over four weeks away - April 10 at the Los Angeles Clippers. With Oklahoma seven games back from a play-in berth with 18 games left, Jerome's season is effectively over as well.
Dort started all 51 of his appearances in 2021-22, his third professional season. In over 32 minutes a night, the Arizona State product averaged career highs in points (17.2) and rebounds (4.2). He shot 48.7% on twos and 33.2% from deep, with more than half of his shot attempts coming from beyond the 3-point arc.
Muscala, 30, averaged eight points and three rebounds per game off the bench. The Thunder hold a $3.5-million club option on the veteran's contract for 2022-23.
Jerome, a 2019 first-round pick, averaged 7.1 points and 2.3 assists per game in his third year. However, he saw his 3-point shooting drop to just 29% after last year's career high of 42.3%.
