Curry snubs idea of playing with LeBron: 'Y'all can live in that fantasy world'

Stephen Curry appreciates LeBron James' desire to be teammates but doesn't see it ever happening.

During an appearance on 95.7 The Game's Steiny and Guru show Wednesday, Curry responded to the Los Angeles Lakers star's comments admitting the Golden State Warriors guard's among the current NBA players he wants to take the court with the most.

"Well, he got his wish. He's the captain, he's picked me the last two All-Star Games," Curry said. "I don't know if that suffices, but I'm good right now."

When asked how it felt for James to single him out, Curry said he was flattered but suggested it wasn't a realistic possibility.

"Whenever you get the interest or curiosity of what it would be like to play with arguably an MVP kinda caliber dude - like he is the greatest of all time - cool. Like, it's amazing," Curry said. "Y'all can live in that fantasy world, though."

James' remarks turned heads earlier in the day when they surfaced during a clip previewing the latest episode of The Shop.

"Steph Curry. Steph Curry's the one that I want to play with, for sure, in today's game," the 37-year-old said.

While James and Curry teaming up is an unlikely scenario, it isn't entirely impossible. Curry is committed to Golden State through 2025-26, but James is on pace to become a free agent after the 2022-23 campaign. The Lakers forward has also admitted that he would do "whatever it takes" to play with his son Bronny James for at least one season before the end of his career.

Under current NBA rules, Bronny is eligible to declare for the draft as soon as 2024. If the Warriors manage to select the Sierra Canyon High School standout that year, they could potentially add a then-39-year-old James to their roster in the same offseason.
