This year's NBA Finals hold added significance for Joe Lacob, as the series pits his Golden State Warriors squad against a team in which he once held a minority stake.

Lacob, a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, was a part-owner of the Boston Celtics for four years before purchasing the Warriors in 2010. While he looks back fondly on his time with the Celtics, he wants nothing more than to see the Warriors beat them.

"Boston was very important and those guys were very helpful. They're friends to this day - not too close friends, though," the Warriors owner told Boston.com's Conor Roche. "I want to kill them right now, I'm going to be honest. I'm very competitive about this and I'm sure they are, too. It's going to be a battle on the court and a little bit of a battle on the ownership level, too. We want to kill each other and we want to win, both teams. And they should."

Lacob was with the Celtics when they won their last NBA championship in 2008. The Warriors have won three championships under his ownership and advanced to the NBA Finals six times in the last eight years.
