Draymond: Game 1 loss is 'not a hit to the confidence'
The Golden State Warriors know there's no reason to panic after a stunning 120-108 Game 1 loss to the Boston Celtics in the Finals.
"It's fine. You get a chance to do something else, do it in a different way, embrace the challenge," Warriors forward Draymond Green said after the loss, courtesy of ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "We've always embraced challenges. It's no different. We'll embrace this one. So no, it's not a hit to the confidence at all not one bit."
Trailing by 12 entering the fourth quarter, Boston put forth an incredible rally in the final frame to outscore Golden State by 24 en route to a 12-point win. Boston scored 40 points in the fourth and at one point went on a 17-0 run late in the period. The Warriors went scoreless for nearly five minutes.
"I think you give Boston credit. They came in and earned the win. Played a great fourth quarter," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said postgame. "We'll come in, watch the film and see where we can get better, and you know, it's one game."
The Warriors find themselves in a situation they've rarely been in during their dynastic run that's resulted in six Finals appearances over the last eight seasons. The Dubs trail a playoff series 1-0, which has only happened on two previous occasions dating back to 2014. They fell behind during the 2016 Western Conference finals versus Oklahoma City and in the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Golden State managed to secure a win in Game 2 in both instances.
Game 2 of the Finals is scheduled for June 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
