Wiggins wants contract extension with Warriors: 'I would love to stay here'

After winning his first championship, Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins made it known Saturday that he wants to sign a contract extension with the organization.

"I would love to stay here," Wiggins said. "This is top-notch. The way they treat their players, the way they treat your family."

Wiggins has one year left on his deal for 33.6 million dollars, according to Spotrac. He signed a rookie maximum contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017.

Wiggins flourished in his role with the Warriors this past season, starting his first All-Star Game. Golden State asked Wiggins to guard key perimeter players in the playoffs, including Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown.

The 27-year-old also contributed 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, a steal, and a block during the Warriors' championship run.

"We're all one big family. A lot of places might say that, but here their actions show it. I would love to stay here."

Wiggins was traded to the Warriors in 2020 after spending the first five and a half seasons of his career with the Timberwolves.
