Jokic inks NBA-record 5-year, $270M super-max extension with Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic agreed to an NBA-record five-year, $270-million super-max extension, his agents told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Jokic's new contract includes a player option and trade kicker.

Jokic averaged career highs in points (27.1) and rebounds (13.8) this past season while leading the team in assists with 7.9 per game. The 27-year-old won his second consecutive MVP award after helping a depleted Denver squad without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. to a 48-34 record.

The Serbian big man was selected 41st overall in the 2014 NBA Draft. After missing the playoffs for four straight seasons, the Nuggets have now made the postseason four years in a row, including a trip to the 2020 Western Conference finals.

The Nuggets have been active in the offseason, reportedly trading Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith for Monte Morris and Will Barton.
