Report: Top 2 prospects Wembanyama, Henderson to face off in October
French big man Victor Wembanyama and G League Ignite point guard Scoot Henderson, the projected top two picks in the 2023 draft, will meet in a pair of exhibition games in October, a source told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.
Wembanyama's Paris-based Metropolitans 92 will travel to Henderson, Las Vegas, to play the Ignite in two contests Oct. 4 and Oct. 6, Givony reports. Both games are expected to be televised on ESPN.
Wembanyama recently measured 7-foot-4 barefoot with an 8-foot wingspan. The 18-year-old was named French LNB Pro A Best Young Player in each of the last two seasons and made his debut in the Euroleague last campaign.
Henderson is joined by prospects Leonard Miller and Sidy Cissoko on the Ignite in his second season with the team.
The Ignite will play a full 50-game G League schedule this season, allowing them to compete for a championship in 2022-23. Their season kicks off Nov. 4.
