Report: Hornets' Ball expected to miss start of season with ankle sprain
Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball is expected to miss time to begin the regular season, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The former Rookie of the Year will undergo treatment after an MRI revealed he suffered a left ankle sprain, the team announced on Tuesday.
Ball suffered the injury in Monday night's preseason contest after Washington Wizards forward Anthony Gill stepped on his foot. The point guard fell to the floor and remained there for several minutes after the incident.
The team expects guard Terry Rozier to start in Ball's place, beginning with Wednesday's preseason finale against the Philadelphia 76ers, head coach Steve Clifford told The Charlotte Observer's Rod Boone.
The Hornets are currently 0-4 in their exhibition games, with an average margin of defeat of 21 points.
