Hornets' Ball sidelined after re-injuring ankle by stepping on fan's foot
Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball will miss Friday's contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers after re-injuring his ankle Wednesday when he stepped on the foot of a fan sitting courtside.
"We'll be without him here," head coach Steve Clifford said Thursday, according to the Charlotte Observer's Rod Boone. "I don't think we have any idea how long."
Ball underwent an X-ray following Wednesday's 125-113 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Boone adds. The results reportedly came back negative.
The 21-year-old suffered an ankle injury during the preseason and missed the Hornets' first 13 games of the campaign. He made his season debut last Saturday against the Miami Heat.
Ball has played in only three of Charlotte's contests this season, averaging 19.3 points, 7.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 32.7 minutes per game.
