Lakers trade Beverley to Magic for Bamba in 4-team deal
The Los Angeles Lakers sent guard Patrick Beverley to the Orlando Magic for center Mo Bamba, the teams announced.
As part of a four-team trade, the Lakers also acquired Davon Reed from the Denver Nuggets, while Bones Hyland was routed to the Los Angeles Clippers from the Nuggets. In addition, the Clippers sent the Lakers two second-round picks.
Beverley is unlikely to play for the Magic, sources told Khobi Price of the Orlando Sentinel. Orlando is also adding a future second-rounder and cash in the move.
Beverley, a three-time All-Defensive selection, started all 45 of his appearances for L.A. this season, registering 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 26.9 minutes per game.
Bamba is two games into a four-game suspension as a result of a fight with Minnesota Timberwolves veteran swingman Austin Rivers on Feb. 3. Once eligible to return, the 24-year-old is expected to provide the Lakers with added frontcourt depth behind Anthony Davis, Rui Hachimura, reported newcomer Jarred Vanderbilt, and Wenyen Gabriel.
