Iguodala out at least 4 weeks after undergoing wrist surgery

Golden State Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala will be re-evaluated in four weeks after undergoing surgery Monday for a fractured wrist, the team announced.

A minimum four-week timeline means Iguodala is almost certain to miss the remainder of the 2022-23 regular season, as the Warriors' campaign closes in three weeks on April 9. However, the playoffs don't get underway until April 15, setting up a possible first-round return for Iguodala if Golden State can make it that far.

The Warriors occupy the Western Conference's sixth seed, which would send them directly to the first round. But Golden State is just a half-game clear of the seventh-place Dallas Mavericks and only one game clear of every other squad within the play-in range. The Warriors also risk failing to make the postseason entirely, as the 11th-place Los Angeles Lakers trail them by only 1.5 games.

Iguodala is in his 19th season, which the 39-year-old announced in September would be his last. However, injuries have plagued his NBA swan song. A hip issue delayed his campaign debut until Jan. 7, and he played in just three contests before the same ailment sidelined him again until earlier this month. Iguodala has appeared in just eight games this season, averaging 2.1 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds in 14.1 minutes.
