Cousins: 'I would love to get a real answer' about why I'm not in NBA

DeMarcus Cousins is puzzled about why he's been unable to land a contract with an NBA team this season.

The four-time All-Star expressed frustration over his current situation during an interview with SiriusXM NBA Radio on Tuesday, saying he hasn't received an honest answer from teams about why he isn't in the league right now.

"That's honestly my biggest issue. That's kind of the untold secret of the NBA, you never really get an honest answer," Cousins said. "I'm the type of guy that whenever I go through my hard times or my hardships, I look at myself first. What can I do to better myself? That's something I pride myself on.

"I've asked many questions. I've reached out to former teams. I kind of get sugarcoated answers. I can never really get the raw, honest truth. I've struggled with that as well. I would love to get a real answer."

Cousins spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets, averaging 9.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 48 games.

The 32-year-old worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers in January, and although head coach Darvin Ham said he "looked great," the team passed on signing him.
