Klay: Warriors 'made history before' by coming back from 3-1 deficit
This isn't the first time Golden State Warriors veteran Klay Thompson has been down 3-1 in a playoff series.
After the defending champions lost 104-101 to the Los Angeles Lakers in Monday night's Game 4, putting them in a 3-1 second-round hole, the longtime Warriors guard recalled the team's series comeback against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2016 Western Conference finals.
"We made history before," Thompson said, according to ESPN's Kendra Andrews. "The goal is to win one at home. We know we are capable of taking care of home court. It's about staying present and not looking ahead."
Golden State won three games in a row to reach the the 2016 NBA Finals before famously giving up its own 3-1 series advantage to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"It's fun to reflect on the past and learn from it and take that same competitive energy that brought us back in the past to today," Thompson added.
The 33-year-old scored nine points on 3-of-11 shooting in 41 minutes Monday. Stephen Curry led the team in scoring with 31 points and also recorded a triple-double with 14 assists and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors' offense stalled in the fourth quarter, managing to score 17 points compared to the Lakers' 27.
"You go home and you take care of business. You get a win. And the momentum is right back in your favor. That's all it is," head coach Steve Kerr said. "Someone has to win four times. That's why you play it out."
The Warriors host Game 5 on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET.
