Report: Kyrie re-signs with Mavericks on 3-year, $126M contract
The Dallas Mavericks and Kyrie Irving agreed on a three-year, $126-million deal that includes a player option for the third season, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports.
The Mavericks acquired Irving before February’s trade deadline for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, and second-round picks in 2027 and 2029.
The guard reportedly planned to meet with the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets at the beginning of free agency.
Dallas went 5-11 with Irving and superstar Luka Doncic in the lineup together, with both players missing time due to injuries in the latter half of the season.
Irving, 30, averaged 27 points, six assists, five rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 20 games with the Mavericks. Dallas missed the postseason, finishing with a 38-44 record.
Dallas acquired two rookies in the draft, adding center Dereck Lively and forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper to help shore up the defense.
