Report: Lakers sign Vincent for 3 years, $33M after playoff breakout
The Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Gabe Vincent to a three-year, $33-million deal, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Vincent broke out during the playoffs as part of the Miami Heat's unexpected run to the NBA Finals, averaging 12.7 points per game for the No. 8 seeds.
The Heat tried unsuccessfully to lure Vincent back with a four-year, $34-million offer, sources told Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
Though Vincent performed well on the biggest stage, the 27-year-old is yet to average double figures in scoring through four NBA seasons after going undrafted out of UC Santa Barbara.
Known as a talented shooter, Vincent is primed to split time between ball-handling duties and floor spacing for stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Vincent's $11-million salary is a tremendous increase from the $1.8 million he earned last year.
