Hornets rookie Miller gets 'jitters out' after up-and-down Summer League debut

Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller put on a mixed performance in his Summer League debut less than two weeks after being taken with the No. 2 pick.

The former Alabama forward recorded 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting, along with five rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block in 34 minutes in Charlotte's 98-77 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. However, he also picked up seven fouls and six turnovers.

Miller particularly struggled in the first half, committing six fouls and scoring only five points. In an NBA game, Miller would've fouled out by halftime, but players are allowed up to 10 fouls in Summer League.

"I'm a little frustrated because I don't like to lose, but I had fun out there," Miller said postgame, according to ESPN's Kendra Andrews.

"We got the jitters out, so we're going to be good," he added.

Hornets Summer League head coach Marlon Garnett found it "hard to say" how he'd grade Miller's up-and-down debut.

The Hornets' selection of Miller was a slight surprise to some given point guard Scoot Henderson's projection as the draft's second-best prospect behind Victor Wembanyama.
