Magic waive Bol Bol after 1 season
The Orlando Magic waived forward/center Bol Bol after one season, the team announced Tuesday.
Bol had $2.2 million non-guaranteed on his contract for the 2023-24 campaign before being cut, according to Spotrac. The Magic signed him to a two-year, $4.4-million deal in 2022.
He's eligible to be claimed off waivers by a team that has cap room or a trade exception, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. The waiver-claim order is based on the regular season standings (from worst record to best).
The 7-foot-2 native of Sudan averaged career highs across the board last season, including points (9.1), rebounds (5.8), blocks (1.2), and minutes (21.5).
Bol also started 33 of 70 contests, more than he played in his first three NBA seasons combined.
Orlando recently re-signed backup center Mo Wagner to a two-year, $16-million deal, maintaining its frontcourt depth behind Wendell Carter Jr. and Paolo Banchero.
Bol spent his first three seasons with the Denver Nuggets before being shipped to the Boston Celtics and eventually the Magic in February 2022.
