Cavaliers knock off Rockets to win Summer League title
Second-year forward Isaiah Mobley put up a monster performance to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Houston Rockets 99-78 and win the NBA 2K24 Summer League championship.
Mobley, whose little brother Evan Mobley is a Cavaliers starter, was also named the title game's Most Valuable Player. He recorded an impressive 28-point, 11-rebound double-double in the matchup.
Jumping out to an 18-point lead in the first half, Cleveland used a decisive interior scoring edge to suffocate the Rockets, led by Mobley's 11 2-point baskets and five offensive boards.
The Cavaliers were also paced by Sam Merrill's 27 points (including six made threes), and 2023 second-rounder Emoni Bates' 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Houston struggled to hit shots from beyond the arc despite 36 of its 76 shots coming from deep. Tournament MVP Cam Whitmore made just two of his eight 3-pointers, finishing with 14 points.
The Rockets were led by Nate Hinton's 18 points and 10 rebounds, though the guard finished a game-worst -33.
