Thunder sign head coach Daigneault to multi-year extension
The Oklahoma City Thunder signed head coach Mark Daigneault to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Daigneault coached the Thunder the last three campaigns, compiling a career record of 86-150 (.364 winning percentage).
He led them to a 40-42 record last season, a 16-win improvement from the previous year. Oklahoma City made the play-in tournament and beat the New Orleans Pelicans before being eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Daigneault finished second in Coach of the Year voting.
The Thunder saw major growth from young players under Daigneault's watch last season. Most notably, guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named an All-Star and earned All-NBA honors for the first time.
Daigneault originally joined the franchise with the Oklahoma City Blue G League squad in 2014. He coached the team for five seasons before becoming an assistant with the Thunder.
