Channing Frye: Cavs tried to 'bait' Draymond during 2016 NBA Finals
Former Cavaliers big man Channing Frye admits that Cleveland had a plan to try to get Draymond Green suspended during the 2016 NBA Finals.
Appearing on The Athletic's "A King's Reign" podcast, Frye explained how the Cavs tried to "bait" Green before he committed a flagrant foul that led to him being suspended for Game 5 of the series.
"Of course," Frye responded when asked if LeBron James purposefully baited Green. "What do you mean? Of course. Everybody was trying to bait him. Are you joking? He shouldn't have had that many fouls. He shouldn't have been kicking people in their wee-wee.
"It's not our fault. We're supposed to take advantage, hey, if somebody's shoe is untied, I'm gonna step on their laces. No harm, no foul. It is part of the game. He knew we were baiting him. If you watch that game, everyone was trying to bait him. And they're mad about it. You know what you should have been mad about? The 25 other technicals. Crazy technicals."
Green was hit with an automatic one-game suspension after striking James in the groin area during Game 4, as it was his fourth flagrant foul of the 2016 playoffs.
The Cavs defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 and went on to win the series in seven games, becoming the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals.
