Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt agreed to a four-year, $48-million contract extension, his representation told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The extension is fully guaranteed and contains a player option in the final year, Charania adds.
The Lakers acquired Vanderbilt from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline as part of a three-team deal in February.
Vanderbilt averaged 7.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 26 regular-season games with the Lakers, providing a strong defensive presence in the frontcourt alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The 24-year-old also started 13 postseason contests.
The 6-foot-8 forward was drafted No. 41 overall in 2018 by the Denver Nuggets. He's played for four franchises in his five NBA seasons, including stops with the Nuggets, Jazz, Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
It's been a busy offseason for the Lakers after reaching the Western Conference finals. They agreed to long-term contracts with Davis, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura. L.A. also retained D'Angelo Russell and added Christian Wood, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, and Taurean Prince.
