Cavs president Altman charged with impaired driving

Cleveland Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired Friday night in Cleveland, Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed, according to The Athletic's Jason Lloyd.

"We are aware of an incident involving Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman. We are currently gathering more information and have no further comment at this time," the franchise said in a statement, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Highway patrol said troopers observed signs of impairment by Altman after initiating a traffic stop. The troopers reportedly offered Altman a breath test, but he declined.

Altman, who turned 41 Saturday, was also charged with a marked lanes violation, Lloyd adds.

He was hired by the Cavaliers in 2012, winning a championship with the club as director of pro personnel in 2016. Cleveland promoted Altman to general manager in 2017 before elevating him to president of basketball operations in 2022. He finished second in Executive of the Year voting last season.
