New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum was diagnosed with a small collapsed right lung, the team announced.
McCollum will undergo more examination over the next 48 hours to determine the severity. The Pelicans ruled McCollum out for Monday's contest against the Denver Nuggets.
The veteran guard dealt with the same issue in 2021, missing 18 games with the Portland Trail Blazers. He was shipped to New Orleans soon after, right before the 2022 trade deadline.
McCollum is averaging 21.7 points, 5.7 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals across six contests this season.
The Pelicans rank fourth in the Western Conference with a 4-2 record.
