Report: Hawks' Johnson out 4-6 weeks with wrist issue
Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson will miss four-to-six weeks after sustaining a left wrist injury, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The 21-year-old will reportedly not require surgery after tests revealed that he didn't suffer a fracture.
Johnson was hurt on Saturday after going up for an attempt at the rim in the second quarter against the Washington Wizards. Challenged at the summit by Kyle Kuzma, the Hawks forward braced his fall with his wrists behind him. He immediately clutched his left hand upon impact.
Johnson is in the midst of a breakout season in his third year as a pro. The Duke product is scoring 14.1 points per game - up from 5.6 as a sophomore - while registering 7.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and a block per contest. Now a mainstay figure in Atlanta's starting five, Johnson, who only started six of 70 appearances last season, is also shooting 42.5% from beyond the arc on 2.7 attempts per game.
