Doncic: 'Refs gotta just let us talk' during games

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic wishes referees would ease up on penalizing trash talk on the court.

Doncic said he received a technical foul late in the fourth quarter of the Mavs' 120-113 win over the Grizzlies on Monday night for exchanging words with Memphis wing Vince Williams. While Doncic was complimentary of Williams after the game, he didn't agree with the referee's decision.

"(Williams) was just talking shit the whole time," Doncic said during his postgame press conference, according to Jonah Dylan of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "I told him I wish they'd let me play him one-on-one, that's when I got a tech."

"The refs gotta just let us talk. It's part of the game. I love it. I think he's a great defender," Doncic added. "But the refs, the last game, I didn't do nothing, we got both techs. This game, we (were) both talking, I got the tech only. ... The refs gotta just chill on that part."

Doncic finished the game with 35 points, eight rebounds, and six assists as the Mavs picked up their third straight win.
